There are tons of successful smartwatches on the market, along with a large number which have quite a lot of potential, but at this moment in time, do not really get the success that they deserve.
Such as example is the Qualcomm Toq, which is basically a smartwatch that does not bring something new and exciting to the table, but it rather brings the normal smartwatch features in an interesting design, and more importantly, at a good price, far outweighing the competition at this moment in time.
Design
In terms of design, each smartwatch has its own unique features and our role is to point out what these are and let you be the judge in terms of whether you like how the device looks or not. With this in mind, the Toq comes along with a Mirasol screen, which is basically an e-Ink screen that adds in a bit of colour while making sure that it does not make the screen reflective while keeping all of the benefits provided by an e-Ink screen close by.
While the watch is definitely not the biggest one in the market, it definitely stands out in terms of size, as it comes with a 1.55 inch rectangular screen which is also quite wide, thus granting it its signature look. In the case that users are okay with the idea of the screen being of this wideness, then the watch represents a great choice in terms of design.
While it has not been designed to be named a luxury or designer smartwatch, it actually happens to be a device that is a pleasure to wear in most cases. It also comes along in a couple of different colours, thus ensuring that users are easily able to choose one that fits their personal style accordingly.
Features
When it comes down to the features that the Qualcomm Toq provides, it is worth stating that there is nothing outstanding, however it does offer everything that is required from a smartwatch I today’s market.
With this in mind, users can easily see what time it is, choose from a variety of watch interfaces, get notifications for their texts, mails, calls etc. Additionally, there are also a couple of additional features that can be set up and customized as the user desires. It also functions based on the principles of swiping cards, which is something worth looking forward to trying out.
Additionally, the actions that are needed to browse the smartwatch are also quite intuitive, as most users will find that they can get around on the smartwatch right out of the box, and without experiencing any type of issue whatsoever.
Unfortunately, the Qualcomm Toq does not currently offer any fitness sensors that could help you with your fitness tracking and it also does not have a designated app for that purpose. While this may be considered a setback by some people, there are a couple of more features that can still make it a good watch while working out, as we’ll point out further down the road.
Resistance & Battery Life
As mentioned above, the Qualcomm Toq does not boost a fitness tracker, but the device can be easily tied around your hand as tight as you wish. Additionally, it is also water resistant, so that means that sweating on it, washing your hands or taking a shower should not represent issues at all.
According to a couple of tests that have been carried out, it was also discovered that the Qualcomm Toq is drop and dust resistant as well, which are definitely factors to take into consideration in the case that you often hit or in some way manage to break your devices quickly.
Price
As mentioned at the beginning of our review, the Qualcomm Toq is available at quite a good price at the moment, which puts it above many of its current competitors. At around $130 for one, it represents something worth investing in, if you are thinking about getting a smartwatch at this moment in time.
Based on everything that has been outlined above, the Qualcomm Toq could be a little bit better and could boost some more features, but it is worth keeping in mind that it hosts everything that is popular at the moment and also works on almost all smart Android devices with Bluetooth connectivity, without consuming a lot of battery at all- which means that you’ll be easily able to wear it day in and day out without worrying about the battery life.
